A 55-year-old man is facing an aggravated assault charge after a woman was stabbed Friday evening.

Saskatoon police received a call shortly after 7 p.m. from a man who had just arrived at St. Paul’s Hospital with a woman who had just been stabbed.

The 37-year-old woman was suffering from a single stab wound and was being treated by hospital staff upon officers’ arrival.

Investigation revealed the incident occurred in a residence on the 200 block of Avenue I South. The 55-year-old man now facing a charge was located in the residence and taken into custody.

He was to appear before a Justice of the Peace Saturday.

The victim and suspect are known to each other, police said.

The woman’s injury is considered non-life threatening.
