A 34-year-old man is in Provincial Court Friday after a series of armed robberies on Thursday.

At approximately 12:30 Thursday morning, Saskatoon Police were called to a hotel in the 600 block of Idylwyld Drive where a male employee reported being robbed. A man allegedly entered the front desk area, struck the employee with a steel bar, and stole money from the cash register before fleeing.

Three hours later, a male suspect entered the same business and threatened the same employee with a hammer before stealing his personal belongings and fleeing the area again.

Later, at 10:00 a.m., an armed robbery was reported at a gas station on the 1100 block of Idylwyld Drive north. Again, employees were threatened with a hammer. However, gas station personnel wrestled the hammer from the suspect and chased until he fled the scene in a vehicle.

Police found the vehicle at a hotel, and with a search warrant, entered a hotel room and found much of the stolen goods, and took a 34-year-old into custody.

Police are still searching for a second man, described as black, approximately 22-years-old, and 5’5” tall with a medium build.
