A central Saskatchewan town has declared a state of emergency after a damaging hail storm ripped through the community.

Kerrobert, a town about 180 kilometres west of Saskatoon, was hit with golf-ball-sized hail, high winds and heavy rain as a thunderstorm passed through Saskatchewan Wednesday.

Car windshields were smashed. Windows of businesses, including the town hall, were broken. Siding was ripped from homes. Trees were snapped, and the golf course was left significantly damaged.

Residents, who are now working to clean the mess, told CTV the damage is devastating.
