Four suspects are in custody after a stolen truck involved in a possible shooting was chased down by Saskatoon police.

Officers spotted the stolen truck near the Sid Buckwold Bridge around 5 p.m. Wednesday. The driver, after observing police, sped off before a short pursuit commenced. The police’s air support unit was able to track the truck while officers on the ground used a stop stick to deflate at least one of the vehicle’s tires.

The truck was then abandoned near Weldon Avenue and 13th Street West before police tracked down all four suspects.

Officers found five firearms upon searching the truck. Three men and one woman were taken into custody and charged, police said in a media release.

Police said the stolen truck was the same vehicle involved in a firearms-related incident earlier in the day.

Shortly after 1 p.m., witnesses reported to police seeing a gun being pointed from the rear-passenger window of a truck at two individuals walking near Avenue Q North and 22nd Street West. Another caller told police they heard a gunshot.

Police have not yet found evidence of any gunshots or injuries, but said they believe a shot was fired.

The truck was reported stolen to RCMP on Tuesday.
