RCMP are investigating a hit-and-run collision on the Big River First Nation that left five youth injured, including one with serious injuries.

Mounties responded to the crash in the community located about 130 kilometres northwest of Prince Albert at about 9 p.m. Sunday. A car had struck five youth walking on a road, RCMP said in a media release. The vehicle did not stop after the crash.

One girl, 11, was airlifted to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon with serious injuries. The other four suffered minor injuries, according to police.

Witnesses told RCMP six or seven people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The vehicle, described as a four-door and white, may have sustained front-end damages during the collision, police said.
