The Saskatoon Fire Department spent Saturday morning battling a large grass fire west of the city.
The fire started before 5:30 a.m. Saturday adjacent to the 11th Street West Extension along the CN Rail line. The fire department dispatched one engine, two water tankers and two brush trucks to the blaze. The Delisle Fire Department, Vanscoy Fire Department and CN also helped fight the fire.
Fire officials say crews faced challenges from dry conditions and shifting winds. One shed on the property was lost in the fire, and crews are focusing on protecting exposed buildings in the area.
