Fire swept through a vehicle dealership north of Saskatoon Wednesday evening.
A worker at Valley Ford in Hague called in the fire at approximately 5:30 p.m. after noticing flames on the roof of the building.
Flames swept through the interior of the facility, which fire officials said was undergoing renovations at the time of the blaze. No one was in the building at the time of the fire, however, dedicated employees managed to save almost all of the mechanics tools and drove every vehicle out of the service bays except for one.
“There’s nothing left. The building is totally destroyed,” said Hague fire chief Jim Heinbigner.
With the building gone up in smoke, 25 staff wonder what happens next. The owners said they will start looking for a temporary shop to service vehicles, handle sales, and plan for the future.
"The plan right now is to rebuild. At this point I would think at this location but everything is still up in the air,” Hague Valley Ford co-owner Kevin Adams said.
Heinbinger said he has suspicions about the cause of the fire, but he said there aren’t any details available just yet. There’s also no damage estimate for what the blaze destroyed because the building was under renovation.
While there isn’t much left of his business, Adams said he’s just thankful no one was hurt.
