Mayor Charlie Clark’s spending in last fall’s civic election topped the expenses of each of his competitors.

A report going to city council on Monday shows Clark spent the most of all mayoral candidates, with expenses totalling $198,384.

Don Atchison was not far behind Clark, spending $186,764.

Kelley Moore’s expenses amounted to $91,029, but when it came to single campaign contributions, no one topped Moore. She received an $18,000 donation from the Amalgamated Transit Union.

Quadrant Newmedia Corporation made a cash and in-kind donation of $12,800 to Clark's campaign.

Don Atchison's largest contribution came from the local firefighters union for $10,000.

Candidate Devon Hein’s expenses were zero, according to the disclosure report.

No candidate, for both mayor and councillor, exceeded their spending limit.

Mayoral candidates’ maximum allowable limit is $200,749, while councillors are limited to spending less than about $20,000.

Darren Hill and Cynthia Block, who both won their wards, spent the most of all council candidates. Hill spent about $18,900, while Block spent $18,126.

All but one council candidate who spent the most money in their respective wards won their races. Roxanne Kaminski, who spent nearly $13,200, was beat out in Ward 9 by Bev Dubois. Dubois spent $12,252.
