Two people were taken to hospital Friday morning after a car crashed into the Midtown Plaza.

Saskatoon police were called to the scene just off First Avenue South around 11:30 a.m. A black Lexus sedan crashed into a wall near the Hudson’s Bay department store.

Witnesses told police the driver was attempting to park the car. They said they heard the vehicle’s engine speed up before the car crossed over the sidewalk and slammed into the wall.

The 73-year-old woman driving the vehicle and a 35-year-old woman in the passenger seat were taken to hospital with minor injuries. No one else was hurt, police said.

Officers are still investigating.
