A man has been found guilty of murdering his ex-girlfriend and attempting to kill her boyfriend in Saskatoon.

On Monday, a judge convicted George Allgood of first-degree murder in the death of Susan Reinhardt.

Allgood was also found guilty of the attempted murder of Reinhardt’s boyfriend, David Ristow. Both were shot in the bedroom of their Saskatoon home in July 2006.

After each verdict was read in court, Allgood said, “I didn’t do it.”

During the trial, the defence said there was no forensic evidence linking Allgood to the scene.

Allgood confessed to the crime to undercover officers posing as criminals in a “Mr. Big” sting.

However, the accused testified he only told the officers what he thought they wanted to hear because he felt threatened.

Speaking with reporters after the verdict, Crown prosecutor Robin Ritter characterized the shooting as “a very cowardly act.”

Sentencing arguments are scheduled for Friday.
