Two boys and a woman are dead after a pickup truck carrying seven people crashed with a semi-truck hauling vehicles northwest of Saskatoon.
STARS Air Ambulance and several ground ambulances were called to Highway 16 near Langham at about 6:45 a.m. Monday after the pickup hit the westbound semi. RCMP said the truck was crossing onto the highway from a rural road.
A 26-year-old woman from Corman Park and two boys from Langham, ages four and nine, were pronounced dead at the scene. All three were passengers in the truck, according to RCMP.
The five other passengers in the truck were taken to hospital. A 32-year-old man from Regina, an 11-year-old boy from Langham and a five-year-old boy, also from Langham, were in serious condition, according to a spokesperson for MD Ambulance. A 46-year-old man from Moose Jaw was in critical condition.
The lone driver of the semi-truck, a 53-year-old man from Martensville, was also taken to hospital. Police did not know the extent of his injuries.
RCMP said late Monday afternoon a collision reconstructionist was still investigating. No charges had been laid.
Westbound traffic on Highway 16 was re-routed south of the crash until 3:30 p.m.
