Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is set to visit La Loche on Friday, exactly one week after a deadly shooting shook the northern Saskatchewan community.

Trudeau has yet to visit the town, but made a statement last week from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, shortly after news of the shooting broke.

“We all grieve with and stand with the community of La Loche and the province of Saskatchewan on this terrible and tragic day,” Trudeau said in the statement. “Obviously this is every parent's worst nightmare."

The mass shooting — which took place at the La Loche high school and at a home in the town — left four people dead and seven injured.

Three of the injured people have since been released from hospital while four appear to be stable, according to the chief of the Clearwater River Dene Nation.

One patient remains in a medically induced coma.

A 17-year-old, who can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with four counts of first-degree murder, seven counts of attempted murder and one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm in relation to the shooting.

Several politicians, including Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall, federal Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale, MLA Georgina Jolibois and Saskatchewan NDP Opposition Leader Cam Broten, have already visited the community.

Wall's communication team said the premier will be joining Trudeau in La Loche on Friday. The team also stated all schools in the province will observe a moment of silence for the shooting victims at 9 a.m.
