A second woman has pleaded guilty for her role in a crash that killed two Saskatoon teens this summer.

The 18-year-old — who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act because she was 17 at the time of the crash — pleaded guilty Wednesday in Saskatoon provincial court to two counts of being party to evading police causing death, one count of being party to evading police causing bodily harm, one count of occupying a vehicle knowing it was stolen, and one count of breach of undertaking.

She was a passenger in a stolen pickup truck that sped through the intersection of 22nd Street West and Avenue M and crashed into two other vehicles May 5. One of the vehicles, a car, was pushed on its side and into the wall of a medical clinic. Two 17-year-old students from Bethlehem Catholic High School, James Paul Haughey and Sarah Wensley, died in the collision. Another teen was injured.

The driver of the stolen truck, 21-year-old Cheyann Chrystal Peeteetuce, pleaded guilty last week to two counts of criminal negligence causing death, one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm, possession of a stolen vehicle, impaired driving, evading police and breach of probation.

The 18-year-old is set to be sentenced Jan. 8. Peeteetuce’s sentencing is scheduled for March 11.
