A 21-year-old woman charged in the drunk-driving deaths of two Saskatoon teens pleaded guilty Wednesday.

Cheyann Chrystal Peeteetuce, appearing in Court of Queen’s Bench, pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal negligence causing death, one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm, possession of a stolen vehicle, impaired driving, evading police and breach of probation.

Peeteetuce was charged with driving a stolen pickup truck that sped through the intersection of 22nd Street West and Avenue M and crashed into two other vehicles May 5. One of the vehicles, a car, was pushed on its side and into the wall of a medical clinic. Two 17-year-old students from Bethlehem Catholic High School, James Paul Haughey and Sarah Wensley, died in the collision. Another teen was left injured.

Peeteetuce is scheduled to be sentenced March 11.

An 18-year-old woman — who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act because she was 17 at the time of the crash — also charged in the incident is set to appear in court in January for trial.

She is charged with two counts of being party to the offence of criminal negligence causing death, being party to the offence of criminal negligence causing bodily harm, and three counts of being party to flight from police causing death.
