We could soon know more precisely how many homeless people there are in Saskatoon.
The United Way is conducting a count of the number of people living without a home in the bridge city. The organization plans to visit shelters and areas of the city where homeless people congregate.
In addition to the count, there will also be a survey to better understand the lives of homeless people and how they cope.
The United Way says the data will be used to improve and initiate new social housing programs with the goal of eliminating homelessness. They hope to have an initial count of the number of Saskatoon’s homeless people by Thursday.
