A Saskatoon man is dead after the snowmobile he was riding was struck by vehicle north of the city Sunday afternoon.
Police say a 54-year-old man died after his snowmobile came out of the ditch and into the eastbound lane of Highway 16, about eight kilometres northwest of Saskatoon, and was struck by a SUV. The collision took place at approximately 4 p.m., RCMP said in a news release.
The snowmobiler was taken to Royal University Hospital but died from his injuries.
Two female occupants of the SUV suffered minor injuries.
The victim was part of a group of four snowmobiles that were travelling together. None of the other snowmobilers were hurt.
Police say alcohol was not involved and charges are not being considered.
