A pair of Saskatoon police vehicles are headed to the repair shop after being involved in separate collisions Sunday.

In the first collision an officer was taken to hospital with minor injuries when the driver of a SUV ran a red light at Idylwyld Drive and 33rd Street and crashed into the police cruiser just before 9:30 a.m.

The driver of the SUV was taken to hospital what was described as non life-threatening injuries while a passenger refused medical assistance at the scene.

Police say the driver of the SUV is under investigation for impaired driving.

In the second incident, a 22-year-old man has been charged with failing to yeild the right of way after his vehicle collided with a police van carrying a prisoner at Preston Avenue and College Drive just after 5 p.m. Sunday.

Paramedics checked the officers and the driver of the second vehicle at the scene, while the man in police custody suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution

Also Sunday, a three-vehicle collision at 22nd Street West and Witney Avenue at 2:30 p.m. saw a vehicle westbound on 22nd Street collide with a Jeep that then overturned and collided with a third vehicle.

No one was injured in the collisions, but a 16-year-old female has been charged with disobeying a red light.
