A 26-year-old man is in hospital after a collision on Highway 11 near Grasswood Road early Saturday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the scene just after 4:00 a.m. after reports of a collision between an SUV and a semi. According to the Saskatoon Fire Department, a man was trapped inside the damaged SUV on the highway. The semi was upright in the ditch.

The fire department used a combination of hydraulic and battery-powered rescue tools to remove portions of the vehicle to extricate the driver. He was taken to the Royal University Hospital with unknown injuries.

Southbound traffic was closed for part of the morning as emergency crews attended the scene. There were no other injuries.
