NDP Leader Cam Broten is making the rounds in the final days of the Saskatchewan election campaign.

Broten toured 18 constituencies Friday today to talk about his party's plans to invest in health care and education if it is elected on Monday.

The stops included Batoche, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan Rivers and 14 in Saskatoon, including Broten's own constituency of Saskatoon Westview.

The NDP leader said people are telling him that they're concerned that the province is in deficit after a decade of record resource wealth.

A financial update released days before the campaign started showed that the government is running a $427-million deficit this fiscal year and will be in the hole next year too.

Broten is leading the NDP into its first election since he became leader in March 2013.
