A 34-year-old man has died after a head-on crash between a car and a semi-tractor trailer.
The vehicles collided in the northbound lanes of Circle Drive, near Attridge Drive, just before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Police say the car, travelling southbound, left the road and crossed the ditch before colliding with the northbound semi.
The driver and lone occupant of the car was extracted from the vehicle. He was taken to Royal University Hospital, where he passed away early Thursday morning.
The semi driver did not suffer any injuries.
Traffic was shut down for hours as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. Circle Drive’s northbound lanes and one lane southbound reopened just after midnight as investigators left the area.
Police say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.
Anyone who may have captured footage of the crash on a dashboard camera is asked to contact police.
