A complaint that was filed in 2009 has finally led to a fine for a Lloydminster man and a Saskatchewan company who altered the shoreline at Birch Lake.

James Reinhart and the numbered business 627050 Saskatchewan Ltd. were fined under the Environmental Management Protection Act for altering shorelines on Birch Lake. Reinhart was fined $9,800 for altering without a permit and the company was fined $1,400 for failing to comply with an order to clean up the site and restore the shoreline to it’s original state.

The case goes back to August 2009 when the Ministry of Environment received a complaint that a significant amount of sand was added to the shoreline.

As part of the convictions, a judge ordered the shoreline be changed back to its original state within 30 days.
