Brittney Gargol’s friends said they knew immediately she was the victim in a suspicious death when Saskatoon police released photos hoping to identify her.
The 18-year-old woman died in hospital Wednesday morning shortly after she was found injured on the outskirts of the city, near Valley Road. Friends confirmed her identity with CTV Saskatoon on Thursday.
Gargol was kind and quick to help out others, friends said. The young woman was finishing high school and hoped one day to open a hotel. Her coworkers at the German Cultural Centre described her as a hard worker who befriended everyone.
A friend who saw Gargol the day before she died said she appeared happy.
Gargol was found injured near Valley Road by a passerby around 6 a.m. Wednesday. She was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.
Police — who have not yet officially released her name — only identified her after releasing photos of her tattoos and clothing to the public.
Her death is considered suspicious, according to police. Investigators are interviewing witnesses to find out more about the young woman's last hours.
