Diners at an Eighth Street restaurant were forced to dine and dash Tuesday night after a fire started in a rooftop vent.

Patrons at Saboroso restaurant were evacuated from the building after the wood framing surrounding the roof ventilation system caught fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, but crews had to pull the vent apart and cut away part of the roof to ensure that the flames didn't spread.

There were no injuries and damage is estimated at $20,000.

The restaurant hopes to remain open while they work to repair damage caused by the fire.
