Saskatchewan's Court of Appeal heard arguments Tuesday over the acquittal of a former Prince Albert teacher who was accused of sexually exploiting a student.
A jury found 51-year-old Bonnie McLachlan not guilty last November. She was accused of having an affair with a 15-year-old student from Prince Albert in 1993 and 1994.
The Crown is appealing the verdict, saying the trial judge made several errors, including telling the jury to disregard evidence from a school trip to Banff, Alta.
However, a lawyer for McLachlan argued that both the trial and the jury's verdict were fair.
Some witnesses testified at the trial that they saw McLachlan straddle the student in a hot tub during the Banff trip.
The appeal judges have reserved their decision.
