Saskatoon Ward 1 city councillor Darren Hill is running for president of the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association.

He says he debated running for the role in the last SUMA election, but backed out to avoid competing with his friend and colleague, former Weyburn mayor Deb Button.

Now is the right time for him to run and serve each of the province’s urban municipalities, Hill says.

The election to fill the SUMA president position will take place at the group’s 2017 convention, set to be held from Feb. 5 to 8 in Saskatoon.
