James Yachyshen - Progressive Conservative Party

James Yachyshen

Yachyshen was born in Saskatoon and raised on the family farm near Rama, Saskatchewan. At the age of 25, along with his wife Cindy, Yachyshen moved to Saskatoon and purchased a small service business that they have been successfully operating for almost 20 years.

He was recently appointed is to the board of director for Cosmopolitan Industries, which is an organization that aids developmentally disabled adults through a paper recycling program. Yachyshen has also been actively involved with the Hub City Optimist Club, which is a service club that raises money strictly for charities involving children. He is a current director and past vice-president who has chaired several fundraising events including the Alberta, Montana, Saskatchewan and Northern Wyoming District Conference.

Yachyshen decided to run in the Biggar Constituency because of his strong rural roots. He believes that adding a third voice to the Legislature is necessary to hold the government accountable. "I have not been happy with what's been going on with rural health care and could not stand by any longer. Our rural communities are just as important as our cities and deserve the same quality of health care. I also believe the current government is failing to help communities with economic development and seem to be only focused on their big corporate friends."

Dana Arnason - Western Independence Party

From Arnason's Blogger biography: "I am the Leader of the Party seeking Independence for Saskatchewan. The last vestige of Empire exploits our wealth, and will always view us as provincials."
