A Warman RCMP corporal has pleaded guilty to assaulting a teen boy while on duty.

Cpl. Dean Flaman entered the plea to one count of assault Wednesday in Saskatoon Provincial Court. A second charge against him of assault was stayed by the Crown.

The officer was arrested Aug. 8 of last year in connection with a February 2016 incident.

According to an RCMP media release, police received a complaint just after 1:30 a.m. Feb. 24 of a suspicious person going through vehicles in Warman.

Officers arrived on scene and saw two youth running from the area. Two boys were eventually taken into police custody, RCMP said, and two altercations took place between Flaman and both youth.

A code of conduct investigation was launched and Flaman was suspended with pay after the charges were laid, according to police.

He will appear in provincial court for a sentence hearing on June 8.
