Two teens are facing charges after a high-speed police chase in Prince Albert ended in a dramatic crash Saturday night.
A 17-year-old male youth has been charged with several offences including possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a vehicle, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, operating a vehicle while being pursued by police, and break and enter with intent. A second teen, also 17, faces charges of break and enter, being an occupant in a vehicle knowing it was stolen, and breach of youth court orders.
The chase started when police received a call that several people broke into a school on 23rd Street East.
Police attempted to pull over the vehicle but the driver failed to stop. After driving at a high speed through several quiet neighborhoods and red lights, the suspects sped through another red light and struck a vehicle at 15th Street East and 15th Avenue.
Two people in the second vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police arrested one person at the scene while two more fled on foot. Those suspects were arrested at the hospital.
Police said the truck involved in the chase was stolen.
Both youth accused in the crash appeared in Prince Albert provincial court Tuesday morning.
