A Saskatoon man is dead after his Ford Ranger truck was struck by a semi on Highway 16 northwest of the city.

RCMP responded to the collision Tuesday, at about 10 p.m. The pickup truck was hit by the semi while attempting to cross the highway at Township Road 384 — about 15 kilometres outside of Saskatoon.

The pickup’s driver and lone occupant, a 36-year-old man, died at the scene, RCMP said. The semi driver was uninjured.

Highway 16’s westbound lane was shut down for several hours as police investigated.
