A car stolen in Regina was found in Saskatoon after a string of robberies and a police chase.

On Saturday morning Saskatoon police say they saw a vehicle being driven erratically at the intersection of Idylwyld Drive and 22nd Street. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle the driver sped away.

The vehicle matched the description of one that had been stolen from Regina. It was also believed to be involved in the robbery in the 2900 block of 8th Street a few days earlier.

After a pursuit by the officers and the air support unit the suspect abandoned the vehicle in the area of McKercher Drive and 8th Street. He fled on foot, however, the police and their canine unit tracked him down. After a struggle with police and the service dog he was taken into custody.

The 34-year-old Calgary man is facing numerous robbery charges. They include theft under $5,000 and possession of a stolen vehicle. It is believed he is responsible for multiple incidents in Regina and Saskatoon.

The man is in custody and will appear in court on July 27.

The investigation is ongoing and it is likely that additional charges will be laid.
