Saskatoon police say a suspect at large after a sexual assault early Friday morning is sporting a “noticeable” forehead injury.

The man, who according to police was armed with a hammer, was struck with the weapon after the woman he reportedly physically and sexually assaulted fought it away from him.

Police say the woman was one of two in the home, on the 3200 block of McGill Street, who reported the assault.

The women told officers an unknown man entered the house and assaulted one of them. He fled after he was hit in the forehead with a hammer taken from him during an altercation with the woman.

The man, described as 18 to 20 years old, six feet tall and Indigenous with shaggy dark hair, was wearing a black T-shirt, skinny jeans and black or red shoes.

The victim who was assaulted was taken to hospital. Police say her physical injuries are not life-threatening.

Anyone with information on the incident or the suspect is asked to call police at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
