A Saskatoon wine shop is ending its fight of a shutdown order issued by the province's liquor regulator.

Cava Wines says it will abide by an order from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) to close after an investigation found the outlet was illegally importing wine from Alberta.

The authority says Cava CEO Cameron Rizos failed to provide an auditor with requested documents during the SLGA's investigation, and it subsequently issued the shutdown order.

In a separate action, minority shareholders in the company filed a lawsuit against Rizos in the fall of last year. Last October, a judge rejected 11 of 17 requests, but ordered Rizos to be more transparent in the operation of his business.

In a statement issued Wednesday, Cava Wines says it will wind down business operations on May 29 to comply with the SLGA order.
