It's been a soggy start to summer in the Saskatoon area, and now the numbers confirm just how wet it’s been.

From May to July, Environment Canada says the Saskatoon airport recorded 310 millimetres of rain. That's almost 12 inches, about double the average for this time of year.

The month of July alone received 80.9 millimetres of rain. The average for July is 58 millimetres.

John Paul Cragg, from Environment Canada, says the numbers may be a bit skewed this summer because of the number of isolated rainstorms. "When it's a thunderstorm, one end of the city can get on precipitation at all and the other end can get 50 milimetres."

And it's not just been wet, it's been wicked too. There are usually abtou 12 tornadoes a year, but Saskatchewan has seen 33 already this season. And if that wasn't bad enough, it's also been hotter than usual.

Cragg says the rising temperatures are gong to continue. "There are above average temeratures for August, September, and October."
