Saskatchewan Party – Greg Lawrence

Greg Lawrence was nominated as the candidate for the Moose Jaw Wakamow constituency on Oct. 13, 2010.

"I am very happy to be the Saskatchewan Party's candidate for Moose Jaw Wakamow," Lawrence said following his nomination. "My family is 100 per cent behind me and I'm thankful for their support. I want to be a part of the positive change I see happening in this province."

Greg was born and raised in the Estevan area and moved in 2003 with his family to Moose Jaw where he began his employment with SaskTel. He is currently a customer service technician with SaskTel as well as the vice-president for the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Local 3, and also serves as the union's grievance coordinator.

Lawrence has been involved with the Saskatchewan Party since 2007.

Volunteering in the community is also very important to Greg as he currently teaches martial arts at the YMCA and serves as the president for the Southern Plains Métis Local 160. Further, he recently served in the military reserves as the Deputy Commanding Officer of the #40 Royal Canadian Air Cadets in Moose Jaw.

Lawrence and his wife Marjorie have three sons and one foster son. When asked what he loves best about Saskatchewan, Greg said, "It's home…we have the hardest working, friendliest people in the country and of course we have the Saskatchewan Roughriders."

Deb Higgins

NDP – Deb Higgins

Deb and her husband Don have lived in the Moose Jaw Wakamow constituency all their lives, where they have raised their two daughters, worked and enjoyed participating in many community activities.

Deb started working at the Canada Safeway in 1979 and became involved with the United Food & Commercial Workers union in 1982.

Deb served as the President of the UFCW Council from 1993 to 1999 and was a table officer for the Moose Jaw & District Labour Council during that same period.

She was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly in 1999 representing Moose Jaw Wakamow. She was re-elected in 2003 and 2007.

In the previous NDP government, she served as minister of labour and learning.

In the Saskatchewan NDP caucus, she currently serves as the critic for municipal affairs, Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, and the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation.

Tom Steen

Progressive Conservative Party – Tom Steen

Tom Steen is the candidate for the progressive conservative party for Moose Jaw Wakamow He was born In Saskatoon and raised in Moose Jaw, where he attended both elementary and high school and was also involved many sports, including hockey, baseball and football. Steen also attended post-secondary school at Kelsey campus in Saskatoon.

During his years in Moose Jaw, Steen was involved in his children's sporting activities including coaching minor hockey.

In the early 90s, he was a partner in a small trucking company then became self-employed in the septic business. Steen became a foster parent in mid-90s. He and his spouse currently run a group home and are the owners of Steen's Auction.

Steen is a full-time truck driver and a proud father of five children and five grandchildren.
