Last week’s heavy rainfall in Saskatoon has prompted city officials to close Lathey pool.

The city says extensive flooding in the outdoor pool’s basement, where mechanical equipment is located, left the pool's pumps significantly damaged.

“The city is working to assess the full extent of the damage and preparing a plan to fix all equipment so the pool will be ready to open for the 2018 season,” a news release stated.

George Ward pool, which was scheduled to close Aug. 25, will remain open until Aug. 31 to accommodate Lathey’s shut down, according to the city.
