Saskatoon police are still looking for information after a large amount of drugs were stolen from City Hospital earlier this month.

The narcotics, meant for use in operating room procedures, included hydromorphone and morphine.

Police said the drugs, which were packaged in vials and ampules, may be for sale on the street and may cause serious injury or death.

“Police want to warn the public that any drug taken which has not been prescribed by a doctor, and dispensed by a pharmacist, pose a great risk to safety,” a media release from Saskatoon police read.

The Saskatoon Health Region said the drugs are stored under high safety protocols.

The region is assisting police but will also be conducting their own investigation following the police investigation.

Anyone with information on the theft or on the distribution of the drugs is asked to contact Saskatoon police at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
