RCMP investigating the suspicious death of Danielle Nyland are hoping video of a black SUV, captured the morning she was last seen alive, brings forward new leads in the one-year-old case.

Mounties issued a media release Wednesday, detailing events from the morning Nyland was last seen and urging members of the public who have information to come forward. A video of a black Chevrolet Cruz connected to the case was attached to the release.

Police say Nyland, who was 22 when she was reported missing, attended a party in Prince Albert’s East Flat area on June 7, 2015. She was wearing black tights and a black shirt with blue, pink and teal patterns.

She was last seen alive the next day — the morning of June 8, 2015 — in the Shellbrook, Holbein and Canwood area.

A black SUV with four passengers stopped at a business at the intersection of Highway 55 and Highway 3 in Shellbrook just before 8 that morning and returned shortly after 9 a.m. with two passengers, according to police. Investigators located the vehicle the next day, but RCMP are still asking anyone who saw the SUV to call police.

“If a member of the public recalls seeing or knows the movements of a black Chevrolet Cruz in the Shellbrook area, especially on the morning of June 8, 2015, we encourage you to contact police or Crime Stoppers,” the RCMP media release read.

“As investigators, we remain committed to finding answers relating to Danielle’s death.”

Nyland was reported missing June 10, 2015. Her body was found nine days later in a secluded, wooded area east of Shellbrook. Her cellphone was found 500 metres north of her remains.

She would be turning 24 years old next week, on June 15.
