The show sold out in just 30 minutes – and now Saskatoon is ready to host Ed Sheeran.

Austin Spence is celebrating his 10th birthday on Sunday by heading to see his favourite singer.

“I just love his music,” Austin said. “It’s going to be so cool to see him, because I’ve never seen anyone famous before. So, it’s going to be a really cool experience.”

His whole family is tagging along.

“I don’t think there’s a day that goes by (that) I don’t listen to Ed (Sheeran),” said Austin’s mother Latara Spence. “I walked down the aisle to his song; I did my wedding video to his song.”

Getting tickets for the whole family wasn’t easy. They entered a radio contest and collected hundreds of dollars’ worth of food for a chance to win.

They didn’t end up winning the contest, but the station stepped up and gave them a couple of extra tickets.

“Ed Sheeran is one of my favourite people to listen to,” Austin explained.

At Winston’s Pub, bar workers are preparing for another Sheeran visit. The singer was there in 2015, and bartender Donovan Drew is hoping for a reunion.

“I didn’t get to talk to him too much,” Drew said. “We had a chat about chicken wings, and we might be related – just the ginger thing. But, other than that, he was really pleasant.”

All concert-goers are hoping this shapes up to be the best concert of 2017.
