Damage is estimated at $300,000 after a garage fire in Saskatoon's Arbor Creek neighbourhood Saturday afternoon.
Four fire trucks were called to 130 Eastman Cove around 3:40 p.m. Black smoke was coming from the attached garage of a two-storey home when crews arrived.
The lone occupant had left the house, firefighters were told, and a search of the home confirmed no one was left inside. Crews needed over 40 minutes to control the flames.
The cold weather — which sat around -23 C but felt like -35 C — created safety concerns for the firefighters, the fire department tweeted during the blaze.
The cause of the fire has been determined as accidental, with the fire department issuing a reminder that smoking material should be safely extinguished.
