Saskatoon police believe a pair of early morning robberies Friday may be connected to five others that occurred this month.

Officers were called to a convenience store in the 1900 block of 8th Street East around 2:45 a.m. Staff reported three suspicious men walking through the parking lot when one, with his face covered, tried to get into the store. Staff had already locked the door, police said, and the group fled.

Hours later, at 6 a.m., three men robbed a store on the 1100 block of Central Avenue. The trio’s faces were covered they were armed with a gun, knife and bear spray. They threatened the employee before filling up a blue backpack with cigarettes and fleeing.

Twenty minutes later, three men reportedly carrying a blue backpack stole cash from a convenience store on the 100 block of Hampton Circle. Two employees in the store were treated for injuries consistent with bear spray, police said.

Police said they believe the two robberies and attempted robbery are related, and that the three incidents may be connected to other robberies that have occurred since Oct. 5.

Investigators released a surveillance photo from a previous robbery, stating they believe the man in the picture may have information on the incident.

Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to contact police at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
