An 11-year-old Radisson boy is dead after he and another boy were struck by a train Saturday.

RCMP were called to the incident, which occurred at the tracks along Highway 16 one kilometre south of the central Saskatchewan town, around 12 p.m. Two boys, both from Radisson, were hit by a train.

One boy died. The other, a 13-year-old, suffered minor injuries, RCMP said.

Radisson fire crews and Mounties closed off one lane of the highway as they investigated the incident.

Police have yet to release the boy’s name or details on the cause of the incident.

Radisson is located about 60 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon.
