Two people charged with murder after suspicious death on Sask. First Nation

A man and a woman have been charged with first degree murder after a 24-year-old man died of injuries on Saulteaux First Nation.

On Jan. 2, at around 4:50 a.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of an injured man in the area who was later pronounced dead by EMS at the scene, RCMP said in a news release.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Lyle Night Jr. from Saulteaux First Nation. His family has been notified and victim services made available to them, police said.

“The death was considered suspicious and Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of the investigation,” RCMP said in the release.

Later that day, 20-year-old Brody Runningaround and 23-year-old Malyka Nahbexie, were arrested at a home on Saulteaux First Nation. They each are charged with one count of first-degree murder.

They’re scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 6.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continue to investigate, police said.
