These rates and fees are changing in the new year in Saskatoon

Share

A new year is bringing new fee adjustments at the City of Saskatoon.

Starting on Jan. 1, the city will be charging more for a variety of services, including utilities, parking and leisure.

One of the largest increases residents will notice is water and wastewater. The city says that rate will increase by an average of 5.4 per cent in 2025, following a 4.6 per cent increase this year.

The fee funds many operation costs for water utilities, including treatment, storage, pumpage, distribution/collection systems and capital projects.

Curbside organics, recycling and garbage will all increase fractionally. Small garbage carts will be $3.83 per month, medium carts will cost $7.23 and large will cost $10.84.

Green cart monthly fees will increase to approximately $7.78 per month in 2025. Blue cart fees will remain at $7.47 per month in 2025.

Costs for services at leisure centres across the city will increase, and golfing at any of the city’s four municipal courses will costs slightly more as well.

Saskatoon Light and Power customers will see an increase to the carbon charge rate on their utility bills. The increase will vary depending on a resident’s electrical consumption, but the city says it will amount to a roughly 1.65 per cent increase.

Transit fees will remain the same for 2025.

Hourly parking rates will remain at $2.50, but for anyone paying for parking on the city’s partner app, an extra 15 cents will be added to those transactions.

The city will be charging for parking on Boxing Day.
