A 62-year-old Saskatoon man is dead after falling out of a canoe in Banff National Park.

RCMP say emergency crews were called to Moraine Lake, about 14 kilometres from Lake Louise, at about 4 p.m. Monday.

The man was unresponsive when he was taken to shore, according to Mounties. He was given CPR before being loaded into a helicopter and taken to hospital in Banff, where he was pronounced dead.

Rescuers said he was not wearing a life jacket when they found him, but that one was found floating in the area.

His name has not yet been released by RCMP.
