People whose property was damaged in the Aug. 8 rainstorm can now apply for financial assistance.

The Provincial Disaster Assistance Program covers homeowners, renters and small businesses for damages up to $240,000.

The August rainstorm caused flooding in many homes and streets, primarily on the east side.

To be considered for the compensation, people must fill out an application, which can be downloaded online or picked up from city hall.

The application also requires an insurance claim denial letter.
