Two men accused of killing a Prince Albert teen have been found guilty.

A 12-person jury found Orren Johnson guilty of first-degree murder and Jordan Herron guilty of second-degree murder Wednesday.

Both men were charged with first-degree murder after the April 2014 death of 17-year-old Clayton Bear, who died in hospital after he was shot at a home on Prince Albert’s 27th Street East.

“They’ll be put away and maybe that’s not what they want, but they have to understand at least they’re here in person and that, as for us, we’ll never see Clayton,” Bear’s aunt, Hilda Ross, said.

The jury needed a little less than 24 hours to reach the verdict.

Herron is set to be sentenced Thursday. Johnson’s sentencing is scheduled for March 22.

Murder, both first- and second-degree, carries a life sentence under Canadian law. First-degree murder sentences include no eligibility for parole for 25 years, while second-degree murder convictions can include parole eligibility after a minimum 10 years.
