Escaped Sask. prisoner faces new charges after fleeing from police

The Saskatchewan RCMP says an inmate who escaped from federal prison in Prince Albert faces new charges.
Glen Fredrick Richard Halkett, 29, was discovered missing during the 9:30 p.m. routine count on Tuesday evening, according to the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC).

The next day at around 11 a.m., officers spotted Halkett driving a vehicle in the community of Little Red River, Saskatchewan RCMP said in a news release.
When officers attempted to pull him over, Halkett sped away, striking the police vehicle in the process. No officers were injured but the police vehicle was damaged, RCMP said.
Police say the suspect vehicle was later located, but Halkett was no longer with it.
As a result of continued investigation, Halkett is charged with one count flight from peace officer, one count dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and one count drive while prohibited.
He was previously charged with one count of escaping lawful custody, and one count being unlawfully at large, in relation to the escape from the penitentiary.
According to CSC, Halkett is currently serving a sentence of two years, nine months and three days for various offences, including break and enter, possession of stolen property, and motor vehicle theft.
The inmate is described as five-foot, eight inches tall, weighing 168 pounds with a fair complexion, brown eyes, and black hair. He has a tattoo on his neck and under his left eye.
Officers observed him wearing a grey or light brown toque, a hoodie and a beige jacket on Wednesday.
The Saskatchewan RCMP says it is actively working to locate and arrest him on these warrants.
If you see Halkett, police say do not approach him and report to police immediately.
