The melting snow has forced an apartment complex in Saskatoon to shut down and evacuate tenants.

At around 6pm, Firefighters were called to 310 Girgulis crescent where tenants had noticed water in the hallways and some suites.

Fire officials say the water also damaged electrical panels and the fire alarm, which led to their decision to close the building.  They say the comples will not re-open until all issues have been addressed and repaired.

Most tenants were able to find alternate accomodations, while some were assisted by the Salvation Army.

It is not known how long the complex will be closed for, or when residents will be able to return.
