A fire discovered by a passing police officer caused an estimated $125,000 damage to a west-side home Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters found flames showing from the front door of a house in the 3800 block of Diefenbaker Drive when they arrived just after 5 p.m.

Crews initiated an aggressive to the home’s interior and were able to bring the blaze under control in six minutes, Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services said in a news release .

Four people who were in the home at the time of the fire got out safely. One person was treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns and was taken to hospital

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
