Roads across Saskatchewan were slippery Saturday and are expected to remain icy overnight.

The Highway Hotline states winter conditions exist on most roads across the province and Environment Canada is now issuing an advisory, warning of freezing drizzle, for much of Saskatchewan.

“A warm front pushing northward across southern Saskatchewan is creating freezing drizzle as it moves across the area,” Environment Canada’s advisory reads. “A period of light to moderate freezing drizzle can be expected as the front crosses the area resulting in localized slippery conditions.”

Regions south of the Yellowhead Highway will be hit with drizzle Saturday evening. The front will move north overnight before tapering off Sunday morning, according to the weather agency.

Motorists are asked to drive carefully. Highways, roads, walkways and parking lots could become icy and slippery.
